I read with great interest the other day of a new, high-end restaurant coming to Nashville. One of the exciting things in my mind is its location. Husk Restaurant as it's called will be located at 37 Rutledge Street in the Richmond Hill area, only a few block from downtown. 37 Rutledge Street is the location of a historical old building dating back to 1895. Needless to say it is on the National Register of Historic Places.

Sean Brock, an award winnning Chef and very respected proponent of farm-to-table and Southern cuisine will lead the culinary team at Husk. Brock has a Nashville connection as he was the executive chef at the Hermitage Hotel for just under 3 years starting in 2003. Just a side note, Mary Lee and I used to enjoy some wonderful meals at the Capitol Grille in the Hermitage Hotel which was also the site of our wedding reception 30 years ago. But less I digress...

What's exciting about Husk and also shared by other restaurants in our area is the use of local "purveyors" . The philosophy in the kitchen "celebrates Southern cuisine, heirloom produce, and regional specialties. We have a self-imposed rule that our ingredients must come from the South".

The restaurant will be open 7 days a week for dinner ($18-$24 an entree) as well as Friday lunch ($9-$15 an entree) and brunch on Saturdays and Sundays.

Downtown Nashville is a real "Happening" in terms of awesome restaurants, entertainment, and yes, Real Estate! The exciting thing about downtown Nashville is there is no immediate end in sight. Just wait for the new convention center to open and all it will bring to our area. Nashville rocks, that's all you can say about it.
